Introducing the splice pipe range – an improved patented concept enclosure designed to solve the ongoing worldwide problem of damage to fibre optic splices.
Designed as an inline fibre optic splice enclosure, the spice pipe range has been engineered to withstand a variety of environments (direct buried, on pole, aerial and in underground chambers) with a greatly reduced length of fibre required to splice at 35cm each side (from a traditional 1.5 metres). This new design concept offers such a small footprint, perfect for ever decreasing space within chambers and cabinets.
How optical fibres are physically arranged, such as a single strand (simplex) or multiple strands side-by-side in a flat strip (ribbon).
How two optical fibers are joined, such as by permanently fusing them (fusion splice) or mechanically aligning them (mechanical splice).
The thickness of the fibre strand, measured in microns. Primary fibre is 0.25mm (250um) thick, Buffered fibre is 0.9mm (900um) thick.
The number of individual optical fibres within a cable, such as a single fibre or a bundle with many fibres.
The overall thickness of a fibre optic cable, measured across its outer jacket.
The physical cross-section of a fibre optic cable, such as round (circular) or flat.
