Precision, innovation, reliability
We are continually expanding the library of fibre optic connectors that can be armoured to withstand the demands from all types of extreme conditions and challenging environments.
We can provide stainless steel armouring in a range of diameters, helping to extend the in-service life of any asset they’re connected to.
Micro Armouring™
For applications subject to weight limitations or within confined spaces, our Micro Armouring™ range is the ideal solution. From the smallest stainless steel 1.5mm Micro Armouring™ used for areas requiring a lightweight solution as a tether on a drone, through to a multicore 25mm thick stainless steel harness breakout, used for a link between buildings, we supply a reliable, high performing fibre optic solutions tailored to the needs of our customers.
Starting with 1.5 through to 3mm in diameter, this armouring offers a high level of protection required while at the same time weighing in at only 5 grams per metre. For harsher applications, we can provide a range of 4.5 through to 25mm diameter protection for either single or multi fibre assemblies.
This range is the perfect choice for fibre optic looms or harnesses, which can include both fibre and electrical contacts using 38999 military style connectors and bulkheads.
Alker has developed a series of armoured multiway breakout splitters and dividers which enables us to manufacture complex breakout assemblies for the more demanding mission critical environments.
Performance-driven design for demanding environments
Armoured HT Optics™
Armoured HT Optics™ is a range of assemblies using connectors and specialist high temperature fibres specifically designed to work in extreme heat, enabling the facility to use fibres to communicate data within sensors.
There are many industries that require better monitoring of their assets and having live monitoring through fibre optic sensing is a proven way to ensure asset integrity. The insulation process protects the entire length of the assembly and allows their use within higher temperatures.
Micro armoured 90°
Micro armoured 90° curved connector boot solutions, this innovative compact connector has been designed and constructed by Alker technicians.
A customer-driven concept that became one of our standard products. It has a unique curving system (with a choice of angle from 0 to 90°) and is an ideal solution where space is limited and has a reduced footprint of a standard straight connector.
The distinctive curve will also prevent the cable from being trapped or damaged. Insertion loss is less than 0.2dB. It is currently available for the LC, FC, SC, MU, ST and SMA connectors and most fibres, we can also provide this range within military 38999 pins and sockets to redirect and at the same time reduce fibres protruding from the back of the connectors.
Armoured Fibre Optic Feedthroughs
For both vacuum and high-pressure applications, Armoured Fibre Optic Feedthroughs is a product range which has proved useful to many industries.
Always bespoke to the needs of the individual applications, we can provide a trusted tailored solution for almost any requirements providing adaptor or tailed versions with a choice of multiple fibre types, connector options and fibre count. This also includes aligned PM fibres.
Polarisation Maintenance (PM) fibre optics.
The Alker Polarisation Maintenance (PM) Armoured Optic process can be used on a range of connectors. With high extinction ratios, our rigorous orientation specification and added armoured protection, enables Polarisation Maintenance (PM) fibres to perform in harsh and extreme environments previously not thought possible.
The orientation of the fibre is available in fast, slow or custom axis in either FLAT, UPC, 8° FLAT or 8°APC polished finish. The range of connectors includes FC, SC, LC, ST and E2000. Making these assemblies suitable in high and low temperatures, waterproofed and with specific fibres can work within radiation applications.
