Polarisation Maintaining Fibre Optic Cable & Patchcords
Our Polarisation Maintaining range of fibre optic patchcords have been designed to preserve the polarisation of light as it travels through fibre.
PM fibre optics
Highly customisable in a wide range of wavelengths, PM types (including spun), and brand PM fibres including Fibercore, Fujikura, Sumitomo and Thorlabs PM, our PM range can be tailored to suit specific fibres issued to us, cladding or connector requirements.
Variations can be engineered using:
- All PM types including Panda, Bowtie, Ellipse, as well as the spun versions of each.
- Different cladding diameters and custom ferrule-only pigtails or patchcords, with hole sizes from PM 80 micron through to PM 126 micron for each of the specific PM fibre cladding sizes.
- Specialist multiple fibre connector occupancy is also an option, with two or dual PM fibres within one custom designed ferrule or connector. We can accommodate 80-micron to 125-micron diameter fibres with options of UPC and APC end face polishing.
High tolerance PM inline fibre optic adaptors are used to hold the connectors in the correct alignment with reduced keyway slack. Whilst non-aligned PM connectors are terminated, enabling customers to manually align the rotation to suit their existing system. Then locked in place in slow, fast or any custom position required.
Patchcords
From our in-house facility, we also engineer terminated patchcords which are aligned using a variety of connector types, which include FC in both UPC and APC with keyway options for both (N) wide (2.15mm) and narrow (R) (2mm).
These are manufactured using spun fibres with a variety of connector and hybrid connector types alongside cables with high extinction ratio (ER).
Options include:
- FC-UPC and APC, both wide (2.15mm) and narrow (1.95mm) keyways. Plus, LC-UPC and APC along with E2000-UPC and APC polish
- A range of Spun PM and multicore 4 and 7 channel fibre optic pigtails and patchcord cables, the fibre designed and manufactured by Fibercore at our in-house facility
Designed to be terminated using PM fibres, terminated patchcords are aligned using a variety of connector types including SC, LC, MU, ST and E2000 in both UPC and APC polished, along with some 38999 military specification connectors.
These can all be aligned and locked in place in slow, fast or any custom degree required.
Housing and protection
Manufactured at our production facility in Surrey, UK, we offer an unmatched level of specialist customisation for these exacting products with the benefit of minimal turnaround times.
- We offer different sizes of jackets, from bare 250 micron, 900um and 3mm, non-armoured and tailored to meet specific requirements
- Armouring, multi-channel bifurcated and trifurcated within the Spun patchcord range can also be used to provide extra levels of protection to withstand extreme conditions
